AARON NULL

Executive Director

Aaron is the founder of Street Stewards. As a graphic designer and passionate OBecian, as he walked the beautiful streets of Ocean Beach in 2018 he tried to think of a way to get the community to commit to cleaning their neighborhood in a fun way that used his inherent skills. Hence, Street Stewards was born with a simple OB map and one green line indicating Aaron’s adoption. He spread the idea through social media and town chatter and the rest is history. He is from West Chester, PA, went to school at Penn State for film, and lived in LA in the 2010’s working as a film editor before escaping the traffic and rat race of LA for the more relaxed environs of San Diego. He is married with a daughter, dog, and loves walking all over San Diego!

SCOTT HORST

Executive Director

Scott grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from Miami University (the one in Ohio) with an Engineering Degree. He followed his siblings to San Diego immediately after graduating in 1984 and worked in the Microelectronics field for the first half of his career as an Engineer and then in sales.

His parents sold their dry-cleaning business in Ohio to follow their adult children to San Diego and purchased Margaret’s Cleaners. Over the years all the siblings have returned to the family business, which is now the nation’s largest high-end dry-cleaning business with locations from La Jolla to Los Angeles. You could say cleaning is in his blood. Scott runs the sales and customer service aspects of the business, and his focus has been the Los Angeles territory culminating with purchasing and renovating the new LA facility.

Scott moved to Escondido in 2015 and started his work on the litter issue in 2018, organizing group pickups, and discovered Street Stewards in early 2020. After convincing Aaron to launch an Escondido map, he saw the impact this could make on a larger scale and joined the team later that year, funding the formation of the 501c3 with the long-term goal of a national launch with a phone App. Scott became a Rotarian to promote the Street Steward program and speaks regularly at other clubs in San Diego, along with regional environmental committees.

Scott lives with his dog Hobbes in the hills of Escondido and his passion is powder skiing which has him working on a second residence in British Columbia, Canada. He also really enjoys riding his e-assist mountain bike, which he has found very useful in picking up litter and feeling like a kid again except for when he crashes.
